Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for Registered Nurses to work in Staten Island, NY. We currently have needs for RNs to work in the health office as a general school nurse, or to work one to one with special needs students both in school and as a bus escort.

School Nurse Job Details:


The school nurse provides health services for students and staff and act as advocates and liaisons on health-related issues for students, families and school personnel.

You are an integral part of the school program in supporting an optimum physical, mental, emotional and social climate for all students and staff.

RN School Nurse Job Requirements:

  • Nursing Degree
  • Registered Nurse in New York
  • Current BLS
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

  • Implement school health management protocols
  • Maintain security of school health supplies
  • Work under the supervision of the chief school nurse and/or school principal
  • Provide limited medical care and services to students and school staff
  • Provide individual nursing care to medically fragile children at school
  • Inspecting the assigned school for health/medical hazards
  • Engage in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practices
  • Maintain school health records, including ensuring compliance with state health mandates for school attendance
  • Designing and providing a school health program
  • Manage one time screenings for school health
  • Assess the health needs of the school community
  • Maintain medical and health services programs for the school
  • Provide health counseling services to students, parents, and school personnel
  • Designing and providing a school health program
  • Interpret the health status of students to parents and school personnel
  • Work with children in a school setting
  • Promote a healthy school environment
  • Provide skilled professional nursing care and treatment for students in an assigned school
  • Provide ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel or health agencies
  • Provide assigned nursing care in a school or home setting
