Music Facilities and Inventory Assistant Campus Bloomington Department JACOBS SCHOOL OF MUSIC (BL-MUS-IUBLA)

Under the direction of the Director of Music Facilities, the Inventory & Facilities Assistant works closely with, and may receive instruction from, the Facilities Setup Coordinator and the Facilities Dispatcher and Office Assistant to provide general facilities office front desk assistance as well as logistical and general labor services for the Jacobs School of Music.

Conducts Biennial inventory of JSoM capital and non-capital assets and is responsible for entering and updating data throughout the year in CAMS (Capital Asset Management System) and KFS (Kuali Financial System) ensuring compliance with University, Federal, and State guidelines. Also responsible for updating and maintaining the internal JSoM equipment database, a real time record of all equipment in offices, halls, studios, and classrooms. Issues keys to students, faculty, staff, and guests and performs key audits. Answers and evaluates business calls, service requests, and walk-ins determining and taking appropriate action.

Moves equipment, instruments, and furniture; includes setting up, tearing down, and removing equipment; installs, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment for all JSoM facilities; distributes flyers and programs; assists with transportation of instruments, tools, and equipment unloading and delivering from receiving dock to end user; maintains tools, supplies, and is responsible for maintaining and updating Facilities Department equipment inventory/database; performs minor interior building maintenance; monitors kiosks and bulletin boards; drives University vehicles as needed.

May serve as primary backup to the facilities dispatcher and office assistant during busy times or during their absence.

REQUIRED: High School diploma or GED and one year of office experience.

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Experience using general tools, including power tools. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, a customer service orientation and ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals within a diverse environment. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities. Available to work occasional nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications 

One year facilities support and maintenance experience; knowledge of university systems and Microsoft office suite; bookkeeping experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands 

On occasion will need to work outdoors in all weather conditions (exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures) for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, move heavy office furniture or equipment.

Salary Range  $12.13/hour - $14.50/hour; $25,230.40 - $30,160/year
