The IEP Coordinator constructs and maintains student Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) in accordance with current state and federal special education standards. In addition, the IEP Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and conducting any assessments or data collection required for determining measurable goals as documented on student IEPs. The position defines and implements education and behavior goals as a member of the educational team. As an active member, this position works collaboratively with teachers, administrators and district partners while under the direct supervision of the School Supervisor. Responsible for personal and Corporate Service Excellence standards.
Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred. A minimum of three years related experience preferred. Current certification as a Special Education Teacher by the State of Washington required.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years as an instructor in a Special Education classroom. Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies with a good understanding of education and therapeutic intervention. Knowledge of current professional Education practice and techniques applicable to the care of severely behaviorally disabled students. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the same. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with other staff, management, school district personnel and physicians. Analytical skills necessary to observe educational practice as well as observe and interpret human behavior accurately. Knowledge of developmental stages preferred.
Responsible for constructing, implementing and maintaining individualized educational plans (IEPs) for assigned student case load. Has the ability on a consistent basis, to organize and conduct educational classes/groups, direct student needs (individually and as related to on the student’s IEP) and provide appropriate documentation. Successful completion of orientation
License: Valid teaching credentials and credentials to teach exceptional children, Special Education-endorsed in the State of Washington.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and of Handle With Care (HWC) Training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 90 days of employment. Successful completion of orientation training within 90 days of employment. May be required to work flexible hours. May require some travel.

Fairfax also operates a 30-bed adult general psychiatric unit, located in Everett, WA on the seventh floor of the Providence Medical Center’s Pacific campus.
