Grant Accountant

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, our client seeks a Grant Accountant. The grant accountant will perform any combination of duties involving: routine calculating, posting, monitoring, reconciling, processing and verifying to obtain or record financial data for use in maintaining the University's accounting records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform grant-related post-award functions
  • Set up of project accounting including budget and expenses
  • Provide revenue and expense analysis
  • Periodic invoicing and drawdowns for specific grants
  • Financial reporting
  • Payroll labor distribution changes
  • Reconciliations of grants
  • Re-budgeting of grants as needed
  • Perform grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts
  • Administration and sponsors including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations, zeroing out budgets, and final reporting; review general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and complete journal entries.
  • Assists with time and effort reporting system, ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations;
  • Maintain regular communications with the department; communicate with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering
  • Prepare routine entries and post financial transactions; reconcile entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting from four-year college or university and 2 to 4 years general accounting experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal requirements, grant applications, college policies and procedures, and manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience with Ellucian Software a plus.
