Workday Payroll Manager

GroupA is seeking a Workday Payroll Manager to join our team in San Jose, CA!

Responsibilities:
  • Supervises Payroll staff including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing the development of staff
  • Acts as the functional lead in all applications associated with PeopleSoft (old system) Payroll, Absence Management and Time and Labor, including system modifications and reporting
  • Ensures earnings processing is in compliance with Federal regulation
  • Propose and develop the system processes for complex executive compensation
  • Tests and approves application of 6 annual tax updates
  • Completes and processes all quarterly and yearend tax returns for all companies
  • Manages processes to review time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
  • Manages processing of bi-weekly payroll and issues statements of earnings and deductions
  • Analyzes and reports vacation and sick leave accruals
  • Collaborates with IT to implement system modifications to improve efficiency
  • Develops and maintains internal controls over T&L and Payroll processes
  • Coordinates responses to requests from internal and external auditors as well as management
  • Processes and reconciles short-and long-term disability, workers’ compensation, and life insurance payments; makes adjustments to earnings, taxes, wage garnishments, and leave balances
  • Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned to fulfill business operational needs and objectives
  • Attends meetings and training as directed by California Water Service Company
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience managing Workday Payroll Module
  • One year of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting or finance with a focus in payroll
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws and regulations
  • Experience running payroll for a Union Labor force.
