Cost Analyst

  • This position reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for advising the management on how to optimize business practices and processes based on cost efficiency and capability. Cost accounting provides the detailed cost information that management needs to control current operations and plan for the future.  Automotive industry preferred. Manufacturing environment a must. Cost accounting. Labor costing. Material and Machining costing. GL experience. P&L. AP. AR. Good personality with the ability to investigate costs in departments, present findings, and cooperate with department heads to analyze data. Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Specific Job Duties:

  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Inventory management and controls experience
  • Supply change management knowledge is a plus
  • Analyzing data collected and recording results
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Maintaining Cost Accounting System
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
  • Reconciles finished goods inventories
  • Experience in automotive industry is a plus
  • Experience on Tooling administration and audits
  • Fixed asset management is a plus

Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of Standard cost and Bill of Materials
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar
  • Minimum of 3 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
