Business Development Manager - Role Description
Position Overview
The Business Development Manager supports multiple Merrill markets within a large metropolitan area to support experienced advisor (Advisor Growth Program) hiring and new client acquisition goals in the market(s). She/he will oversee day to day hiring pipeline management, and execute new client acquisition strategy & tactics in the market(s). The role reports into the National Business Development Executive and works day to day with Merrill Lynch Market Executive(s) & key market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Build & manage the pipeline and the hiring process for AGP candidates
- Focus on acquiring experienced advisors that reflect the diversity unique to the communities served
- Partner with Merrill leadership to lead, drive and manage the acquisition strategy and tactics to achieve market results
- Work closely with Market Executives and RDs to coach FAs, by providing training resources, and leveraging the assistance of the aligned national and local Advisor Growth Network (AGN).
- Partner with cross LOB partners and specialists to promote successful inbound referral conversion to support new client acquisition
- Plan and deliver events focused on client acquisition (securing speakers, content, etc.)
- Drive efficiency of advisor business development processes, reporting, and inspection
- Partner with leadership to manage and mitigate risk and protect the interests of the client, market, and firm
Required Skills:
- 5-7 years of experience leading business development performance and/or sales leadership, with a proven track record of success
- Deep knowledge of how to enable a sales force to operate effectively through tools, inspection, etc.
- Must be analytical, organized and have the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proven ability to drive integration across solutions and drive results through superior delivery and sales management
- Strong coaching & executive presentation skills: ability to present key messages, recommendations and information in a clear, concise and insightful way
- Strong relationship-building skills: ability to effectively influence across the matrix of partners and leaders and the market
- Comfortable taking initiative and being resourceful/entrepreneurial
- Deep understanding of the structure of the BAC franchise, key priorities & products and be able to navigate the organization
- Candidates are strongly preferred to currently hold Series 7 AND Series 66 (or Series 63 AND Series 65), equivalent licenses. If applicant does not currently hold these licenses, these licenses must be acquired within a specific timeframe.
