Reading Partners is a non-profit organization that aims to empower students to become lifelong readers. They offer a volunteer-based tutoring program for students who are six months or more behind grade level in reading. Trained volunteer reading partners provide one-on-one tutoring twice a week for 45 minutes, following a structured curriculum. The program is available in various locations across the United States, including California, Colorado, Washington, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Maryland, New York, and Washington DC. Their mission is to help students become proud and confident learners ready for success. Reading Partners has had a positive impact, with 85% of K-2 students meeting or exceeding their primary literacy growth goals in the 2020-21 school year. They have also distributed over 143,000 books to students through their "Take Reading with You" program. The organization collaborates with community partners to uplift the reading skills of children and engage communities in promoting literacy. To support their work, individuals can volunteer, donate, or become a school partner.
