Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant serves as a backup to both production reporting and accounts payable. This role is responsible for providing assistance wherever needed within the accounting department and assisting with special projects and general overflow.\n

The Position 

 

The Staff Accountant serves as a backup to both production reporting and accounts payable. This role is responsible for providing assistance wherever needed within the accounting department and assisting with special projects and general overflow.

 

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Processing daily labor hours into MRP and timekeeping systems
  • Processes receiving of inbound rod inventories
  • Closing work orders
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations as required
  • Assists with preparation of backup documents for internal auditor reviews
  • Assisting with inventory and timecard errors
  • Work with supervisors on accuracy of reporting
  • Support Inventory cycle counts
  • Support inventory investigations
  • Support accounting as needed
  • Backup to Payroll and payroll recordkeeping
  • Back up inventory receiving
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business related field of study
  • MS Office skills intermediate or higher
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be 18 years or older due to work environment and labor laws
  • Must be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings
  • Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, as well as calculate figures and amounts such as: discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to write routine reports and create professional correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve effectively
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills
  • Must be able to work independently, as a team, and be able to work with internal customers
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States of America

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally work in a dusty environment around metals
  • Sight – hand and eye coordination, depth perception needed to operate computer
  • Hearing – must be able to hear others on the phone or in person, warning sounds of forklift and other heavy machinery
  • Speech – must be able to communicate effectively with others while working
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift seldom to occasional
  • Must be able to sit, twist, reach, grasp, and fine manipulation occasional to constant
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach overhead seldom to occasional
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
